Rajaji National Park was named after the freedom fighter C. Rajagopalachari or first and last Governor-General of independent India. In 1983, the government combined three sanctuaries Chilla, Motichur, and Rajaji into one national park.
Later on 15 April 2015, it became the 48th Tiger Reserve of India after that it was known as Rajaji Tiger Reserve. The main aim of the reserve is to protect and grow the tiger population.

Best Time to Visit Rajaji
The best time to visit Rajaji National Park is from November to June. It is the perfect time for birdwatching and wildlife safaris. In winter, from November to February the cool weather makes it easier to spot animals like elephants, tigers, and leopards. From March to June, it warms up, but you can still see wildlife around water sources.

The Ganga River flows through the park from Bairaaj to Chilla. It passes Rishikesh, Lakshman Jhulla, and Ram Jhulla ending at Har Ki Paudi. The Chilla Range safari open from November 15 to June 15 each year.
Mohand Range Jungle Safari
